Land Mobile Communications / AMS

Communications from inside a vehicle pose a serious hurdle
for both users and equipment integrators. The noise from
engines, other conversations, and even gunfire make it difficult
to hear an incoming radio signal. Plus, when there are various
signals received simultaneously, chances are that they won’t
be heard clearly, and that personnel won’t react effectively. In
some cases, ambient noise inadvertently activates VOX (voice
operated switch) microphones, which blocks the channels that
they are using and makes for an even more confusing
scenario. And finally, land SATCOM users have the added
difficulty of unstable and unclear connections that are the
result of the vehicle’s low quality antenna installations.

Orbit’s land mobile communication technologies minimize or eliminate the effects of these challenges. Our 3D audio management systems (AMS) reduce the disorientation resulting from multiple incoming signals by, in essence, enabling the operator to hear each channel coming from a different direction within their earphones. In addition, the clarity of the signal is greatly improved by the ANR system which is a standard feature for every AMS installation, and which also eliminates faulty VOX activation. For SATCOM communications, Orbit supplies stabilized VSAT antenna systems which allow a stable connection for cost-effective broadband communications delivering video, voice, and data services, anywhere in the world. Orbit’s AMS uses a patented dual IP link system for inherent redundancy and an innovative, distributed architecture for technical flexibility and incremental scalability.
AMS leverages encrypted Ethernet signals with VoIP support, while the system can be operated with touch screen and third party control panels. AMS is even waterproof and can be used by dismounted personnel outside of the vehicle. Orbit’s land SATCOM technology is equally robust and designed for easy installation based on minimal size and weight factors. We support Ku, Ka, and X Bands and provide automatic band switching capabilities. Orbit also supplies customized solutions that feature numerous RF requirements, as well as various antenna diameters and casings. Orbit SATCOM customers enjoy crystal clear RF performance regardless of operating environment or weather conditions.
