ORBIT Wins Contract to Upgrade an Earth Observation System for a Leading Israeli Aerospace Company
ORBIT Continues to Strengthen Its Position in Earth Observation Industry
Netanya, Israel, December 25, 2014 - ORBIT Communication Systems, a leading provider of mission and business critical communication solutions for air, sea and land platforms, today announced that it has won a contract to upgrade a ground station for a leading Israeli Aerospace Company.
ORBIT will upgrade the Company’s legacy analog ground station to state-of-the-art digital technology using a dual-band antenna assembly. The ground station is used for TT&C of and image data downlink from earth observation LEO satellites. After considering various alternatives, the Israeli Aerospace Company selected ORBIT’s innovative and cost-effective upgrade solution package, which is based on a specially designed DSA (Digital Servo Amplifier). This solution enables the Company to upgrade the analog ground station to digital technology in a short period of time.
Ofer Greenberger, ORBIT’s CEO: “Earth observation operators are looking to benefit from new technologies, while preserving their legacy investments. Our research and development team has made significant efforts to address this need, by designing an easy-to-implement solution that is able to work with existing analog equipment on the market. This allows customers to upgrade to digital positioning and tracking technology in a more cost effective way than switching to a new system.”
